The Bagong Henerasyon Foundation, Inc. has undertaken the Supplemental Feeding Program for the Risk Group or the Malnourished Group through an ongoing partnership with the Philippine Medical Association of Oklahoma and the Quezon City Health Department. The Health and Social Services Departments helped in identifying malnourished children ages 0 to 6 years old, and intervening through a 3-month, 5-day-a-week, sustained feeding program. This was an experimental program that we had since 2002 as suggested by the Q.C. Health Department. Since then, thousands of malnourished children have been nourished back to health, it was hence proven effective. To date, the Quezon City Government on the a city-wide scale has adopted this pioneering program.
Apart from this, BHFI also undertakes regular medical and dental missions, annual Operation "Tuli" especially during the summer months, and conducts anti-rabies vaccination, anti-dengue fumigation and anti-SARS disinfection on a need-basis. They recently launched in early 2007 her newest medical masterpiece, the Bagong Henerasyon Mobile Clinic - van capable of providing health services such as X-ray, ECG, Laboratory services, Dental services and others - at the doorstep of Quezon City residents. A first in Quezon City! More than 6,000 residetns benefited from this project.
The foundation engaged its partnership with the Rotary Club of South Triangle, wherein it was able to access the services of the Phlippine Band of Mercy for hydrocephalus and meningoceole and for the rehabilitation treatment of cleft lip and palate cases which includes speech therapy and dental care program. Another partnership is with the Quezon City Dental Society, which helps in delivering projects and activities for the general oral health care of the urban poor community. There were also able to provide free Hepatitis B Vaccination particularly to children ages 2-12 through RCST.
In order to address the Reproductive Health needs especially of women and children, BHFI assures that there is a regular conduct of information dissemination and RH services such as free pap-smear, breast and prenatal examination, and counselling and consultation in the community. In partnership with the QC Council on Population, more than 7,000 students were given Adolescent Reproductive Health Information through the Teen Mobile Center and other RH trainings and seminars.
In partnership with the Philippine Animal Welfare Society, they have been lobbying with the Quezon City Government to put-up an Animal Control Facility or a Dog Pound to ensure the safety of its residents from dog bits particularly from rabied dogs and for the QC government to implement its dog registration program, initiated by BHFI founder BH Herrera-Dy

SUPPLEMENTAL FEEDING PROGRAM

Bagong Henerasyon has undertaken the Supplemental Feeding Program for the High- Risked Group or the Malnourished Group through an on-going partnership with the Office of then Councilor and now Representative BH, Philippine Medical Association of Oklahoma and the Quezon City Government. The Health and Social Services Department of the QC Government helped in identifying malnourished children ages 0 to 6 years old, and intervening through a 3-month, 5-day-a-week, sustained feeding program. This was an experimental program that we had since 2002 as suggested by the QC Health Department. BAGONG HENERASYON MOBILE CLINIC

Bagong Henerasyon launched in February 2007 its newest medical masterpiece, through the capital outlay fund of then Councilor BH, the BH Mobile Clinic- a van capable of providing health services such as X-ray, ECG, Laboratory services, Dental services and others – at the doorsteps of Quezon City residents as well as resident nearby cities and provinces. A first in Quezon City! Bagong Henerasyon implements the services offered by the mobile clinic as agreed upon in the memorandum of agreement. To date, more than 10,000 residents have benefited from this project.

 

Eight months later, October 2007, the BH Mobile Clinic launched the Free Ultrasound Service for pregnant women as its additional service. Most underprivileged pregnant women don’t have access to such service due to its cost. This was made possible because of the Ultrasound equipment donation by President Rey David of Rotary Club of Timog, who is continuous partner of Bagong Henerasyon.

 

Bagong Henerasyon also undertakes regular Medical and Dental Missions, Annual Operation “Tuli” especially during summer months, and conducts Anti- Rabies Vaccination, Anti- Dengue Fumigation and Anti- SARS disinfection on a need basis.

 

PARTNERSHIP WITH RC SOUTH TRIANGLE

They were also able to provide free Hepatitis B Vaccination particularly to children ages 2 to 12 through RCST’s matching grant.

 

REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH PROGRAMS

In order to address the Reproductive Health needs especially of women and children, Bagong Henerasyon ensures that there is a regular conduct of information dissemination and RH services such as free pap-smear, breast and prenatal examination, and counseling and consultation in the community. In partnership with the QC Council on Population, more than 7,000 students were given Adolescent Reproductive Health Information through the Teen Mobile Center and other RH trainings and seminars. The project is a resource center on wheels that provides IEC reading materials, interactive learning, film-showing and counseling on Adolescent reproductive health in all public high schools of Quezon City. By advocating on the issue of ARH, particularly on the high-risk behavior of adolescents, the TMC aims to catalyzing all stakeholders within the schools to institutionalize a school based Adolescent Health and Youth Development (AHYD) Centers by organizing the students into Teen Clubs, capacitating guidance councilors and other teachers, and training a pool of peer councilors.

 

DOG VACCINATION AND DOG REGISTRATION PROGRAM

In partnership with the Philippine Animal Welfare Society, Bagong Henerasyon has successfully lobbied the Quezon City Government to establish its Animal Control Facility or Dog Pound to ensure safety of its residents from dog bites particularly from rabied dogs. The QC Pound is now successfully operating in Payatas. They also pushed for the implementation of RA 9482 and QC Ordinance SP#1638, S-2005, authored by former Councilor Bernadette Herrera-Dy on dog registration with free Rabies Vaccination. To date, more than 5,000 dogs have been registered, all with Dog Certificates and Dog Tags and this is continuously being implemented by the Quezon City Government.

 

*Establishing the BARANGAY POUND

In the line with the successful Dog Registration Campaign under SPL# 1638, authorized by Councilor BH and through the courtesy of the Office of Cong. Bingbong Crisologo, 111 Dog Cages were distributed to thirty seven (37) barangays District 1, to temporarily house stray dogs (in 3 days) in the community while waiting for owners to claim their Dogs.

 

BANTAY HEALTH PROGRAMS

 

*Bantay Hangin Program- Kontra Usok / Kontra TB

The Kontra Usok / Kontra TB campaign seminar, caravan and motorcade, is in support of the Clean Air Advocacy. This Bantay Hangin Program is in connection with the celebration of the Lung Protection Month August and Environment Month on November. The program is a citywide massive information and education drive to enhance awareness of Quezon City residents about the negative effects of air pollution and the actions we must take to resolve this problem.

 

*Kontra Diabetes with Free Blood Sugar Test

Bagong Henerasyon launched one of its Bantay Health Programs, the “Kontra Diabetes” project which aims to carry out a massive information and education drive to increase awareness of our barangay constituents regarding diabetes and its causes, risk factors, warning signs, and prevention tips. The project includes a 1-hour orientation seminar regarding Diabetes and a Free Blood Sugar Testing for the registered participants.

 

*Fumigation for Anti-Dengue Campaign

To decrease, and if possible wipe out, the source of Dengue Fever, Bagong Henerasyon implemented the Anti-Dengue Campaign thru Fumigation servicing of all greatly affected barangays in Quezon City. Through the courtesy of Rotary Club of Eastwood and Rotary International District 3780, which donated the fumigation materials, Bagong Henerasyon conducts Larvae Spraying and Trapping in different areas and continues coordination with various organization are being done to implement a clean up drive program as a preventive measure to fight dengue.

 

BENEFICIARIES HOSPITAL FUNDS

 

In partnership with Mercury Drugstore, Philippines Leading Drugstore, as well as in Q.C.’s foremost hospitals such as Philippine Heart Center, Lung Center of the Philippines, National Kidney Transplant Institute, National Children’s Hospital, Philippine Children’s Hospital and East Avenue Medical Center, The Bagong Henerasyon implemented the BH –Assistance on Health Program. The program aims to extend to underprivileged people important access to quality medicines and to make available financial support for quality health services for in and out patients.
